Legally anyone can call themselves an accountant and not have had any training.
Being a Chartered Accountant ensures that our clients’ know that we are registered and regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Before becoming a Chartered Accountant the ICAEW members must undertake a period of at least 3 years training in an organisation that is authorised by the Institute.
This is followed by passing tough examinations embracing financial management, auditing, business strategy, taxation and IT.
Maintaining the Practising Certificate allowing a firm to trade as a “Chartered Accountants” requires Continued Professional Development by ICAEW members each year to ensure that current legislation changes and key issues are kept addressed to assist clients in meeting their accounting and taxation obligations.
